According to OpenAI, GPT-4o will be available in ChatGPT and the API as a text and vision model initially. Users can access GPT-4o through ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Team plans, as well as through the Chat Completions API, Assistants API, and Batch API.
Availability for Free-Tier Users
Free-tier users will automatically be assigned to GPT-4o, though there will be message restrictions that may change based on current usage and demand. If GPT-4o is unavailable, free-tier users will default to GPT-3.5. It's important to note that free-tier access comes with limitations on advanced communication features, including data analysis, file uploads, browsing, discovering and utilizing GPTs, and vision capabilities.
